It is a simple sentence to write and real work to keep true. Here is what we actually check before anything goes on the site.
The one that catches everyone
Sweets, marshmallows, jellies, yoghurts and desserts routinely contain pork gelatine. Ours are gelatine-free or halal-certified, and the product page says which.
We check the source, not the E number
E471 can be animal or plant. Flavourings and extracts can carry alcohol. Cheese is only halal if the rennet is. We look at all three.
It doesn't go on the site
A product we cannot establish stays off until we can. That makes us slower to stock some things than our competitors. We think it's the right trade.
